MILAN FASHION WEEK, VERSACE: IS THIS FOR REAL?

Goodness, what to do now, what to do... here's the thing: over at Donatella's, the 1980s are apparently making a comeback big time.

Bouncing down the catwalk to a thumping disco club beat was just about all this petite fears, namely ankle flares on rough biker style leather pants, long snug dresses with high slits, large geometric prints, power panelling, bodycon, asymmetric shapes, full zip fronts, unusual cutouts, bold colours red, mustard and cyan - stuff that only works when hung on Superwoman. I mean, no one laughs at Superwoman.

There were sights though that did make my day, phew.

Leather jackets, polonecks as day staples, spray-on leather calf boots (ie. platform socks), miniskirts with long wool coats, black, grey, choc brown, and a revelation, royal blue. Combinations of black and blue or choc and blue looked striking, made me want to try them right away.

The evening sparkle section was centered around strong colours and metallics, mixing futuromantic minidresses and flowing maxi dresses.

I'm already dreading seasons when more of the 1980s come our way but they sure give us a lot to play around with, like lengths, showing a bit of flesh here and there, brave colour combinations, metallics, patent, faux fur, western, and the list goes on. Just make it glam and fun, your way.
