HOUSE OF HOLLAND VS. CHRISTOPHER KANE: SHOW YOU MINE

With just four days before London Fashion Week kicks off I couldn't help but dedicate a bit of in-between-shows musing to uber-cool Brits Henry Holland and Christopher Kane, whose a/w 2011 and resort 2012 collections seem to have a bit too much in common...

This thing looked so innocent back at the a/w shows I was jumping up and down, squealing with delight at the recognition. I'm sure you noticed the similarity between the key elements of the two collections, namely the granny style crochet patchwork print (below). What a coincidence, what a finger on the fashion pulse.

Then came Henry's cruise collection, warm and striking in the very best of ways – yes, I began to grow up too when Neneh Cherry had it all, so it was bound to have double impact. However, for some reason it's only now that I have stumbled upon Chris' recent work in the resort department, all wallowing happily in rainbow stripes. Now what to make of that, guys, were you room mates now? Was it no more than a sure finger on each others' pulses all along?

The below is proof enough of the past but we'll soon learn whether these cool cats have or have not spent this summer together. See you at the shows, sweetlings.

p.s. Chris, Henners, no matter what I say or what I may sound like, my love for you and your work is endless. Some proof hidden here and here and here somewhere.
