HOUSE OF HOLLAND: BORN WITH CHEEK

Henry’s collections give the impression that he amasses all the small details that are very now, adds a few truckloads of his own ideas, all in a matter of days, and then proceeds to dedicating the months remaining till showtime to working his magic, a.k.a. The Cheek Factor – until finally, it's all hollandised enough to pass the big cheek test.

For spring/summer, it was all fresh colour blocking in pastels, with oversized smudge and animal prints, and check on check on check. Plus, there was python print on shoe boots and skinnies, braces, soft chiffon shirts in pastel colours paired with toughie zipped leather, fishnet mesh, layering, fun dresses, jumpsuits, and sheer shirt dresses with cutouts.

And the overall feel? Light, free, careless, with just a bit of glam rock and grunge a la late 1980s and early 1990s, on the bright, fun, sunny side of life. A cake-and-ice-cream-and-hardcandy-and-popsicle-ridden kindergarten party that never ends, for enfants terribles and other grown-ups.
