MOCK MAD MEN LAYERING

Must be because it's winter, I refuse to do bare arms point blank. Still, I had to dedicate the fourth and possibly the last of the burgundy files to this print blouse lying around unworn, so when the time comes I can really do it justice.

Of course, I could have worn it anytime under a cardigan or a blazer, but my work buddies would have thought I was being serious, and that was not something to be allowed. I wanted to give it a tiny bit of an edge. It's all in the layering, so I'm sporting a retro style that never was. Enter the smart seamed t-shirt. Of course, the print is barely seen, but it's definitely there, while the rounded collar looks pretty sharp, at least when it gets a chance to peek out.

Don't get me wrong, though - I'm not under the impression that the plum-coloured skinny baby cords complement the rest perfectly. If I had truly-deeply-madly wanted to do Mad Men, I would have donned a pencil skirt. The trousers are nothing but a rich and muted canvas for the print and the classic accessories, namely the patent contrast trim bag and the chelsea boots.

How would you finish a look like this? I'm gravitating towards navy or red - but a metallic biker blazer, or an uber-feminine tailored one in ombre bouclé? A short A-line coat or a full length wool trench? A huge faux fur ball? You tell me.
